How does one begin to describe Bali? Yes, there are lots of bad things - cummy roads, uneven sidewalks, pushy hawkers. But it is so-o-o-o-o different from anything you can experience anywhere else. We've been to Mexico, been to Hawaii, loved 'em both -- but Bali is still different in so many ways. Let's face it - even in Mexico, it's all a very familiar look -- the fast food joints, the restaurants, the resorts. If you just want to lay on a gorgeous beach and drink pina coladas, then stick with Mexico or Hawaii. If you want some way different cultural experiences, Bali is the place. Search the forum for some of my JBRs for an American point of view. I mention the good, the bad, and the ugly about Bali, and I pretty much don't pull any punches.
