spending a couple of hours wandering around the Denpasar markets but my husband hates the place.Every trip I still manage to drag him along though & he always says never again.It really does stink a bit though.
I really prefer slowly wandering around & taking things at my own pace without anyone trying to guide me around an area I already know or take me to the stall where they get the best commission.What we always do when we first arrive to make sure none of guides attach themselves to us is walk in the opposite direction.I find that if you can even speak even just a little Bahasa & let them know clearly you do not want a guide & are just after Makan Siang (eating lunch)that they leave you alone.
While I shop at the markets my husband usually just want to sit somewhere,read,eat & have a cold drink so when we first arrive I just follow him to the cafe & plop myself down until any persistant guides go away.
