I have looked at the Qantas & AA sites and agree that they say as you have reported. I have also phoned CASA and the Adelaide based gentleman that I spoke to said all aerosols are forbidden in both carry on & checked luggage, and he went on to quote examples such as shaving cream etc. He then said a pump action surface spray is fine in checked luggage, but I am not so keen as it would probably leak at the lesser pressurisation of the luggage hold. I guess I could take a "refill pack" with screw top and a pump to attach when I get there.
Perhaps those red ants aren't so bad after all!
