You're not. Right ummmmm. There are "massage ladies", to be found notably on Sanur streets late at night but also in other areas, from whom there is a strong possibility of catching stds up to and including hiv and hep. However I'm guessing this is not the sort of massage you are talking about and I think your friend has to two confused!!!!
The beach massage ladies are just that. The older ones have put their kids through school and uni in many cases over often up to 20 years on the beach. They are just hardworking "respectable" women who would probably roll around laughing at your friends suggestion!! or feel a bit miffed.
These urban myths always start somewhere. What's the betting that some bloke came home with an unwanted gift from a lady in Sanur and assured his wife/girlfriend it was from a beach massage. It's a bit like can you get pregnant from just kissing?
Of course there may be a flood of replies from forumites who have contracted gonorrhea(sp?) from the beach massage ladies but I think we'll get a deafening silence.
