Oh my goodness!!!!! It is 11.30 am in Perth, and my balinese friend Dayu is still at the consulate picking up her Visa. It was just finalised 2 minutes ago. She will have 6 hours to completely pack and say her goodbyes, as she is coming to stay with me for 2 months. We had given up all hope of the visa being ready in time, so I am not at all ready. However, if she can get her end ready in 6 hours, I will run like crazy and get my home ready for her.
My lovely friend Trish Ryder is going to be on the same flight, so she is going to sit with Dayu and help her through customs until they see me with a bunch of flowers and balloons waiting eagerly at the airport. I am soooooo excited.
Dayu is petrified of her first plane flight (she doesn't even have a car, let alone have flown before), but she said "I will able, I throw my scare". Isn't that gorgeous.
Soooo, although I will be out of reach this afternoon, if anyone needs any advice on how to get a Balinese to Aus, I will try and help with my experience. I must get Trish to do a posting about how the flight and going through customs went.
Here's to a very exciting, educational, fulfilling two months. Just think of what a great cook I will be, and how good my bahasa is going to be!!!!
