Well this is my last JBR for the Accom Part and includes 2 places Tjampuan Hotel & Spa and Tegal Sari in Ubud. Plus a luvthe NT favourite of mine the Adhi Dharma Hotel in the top of Kuta ( I just had to go back and revisit - but this time as a budding reviewer and to show my son and sister what I always rave about )
Okay were in Ubud and silly me has just the two hotel names in my head - no info with me except. The Tegal Sari is near monkey forest and looks out on rice fields. The other I say to the driver is the one by the river - has this incredible spa ( good one me so do many hotels) Then I learn Tju... is like 'Ch' and we hit our target !!! Yippee I love my driver and he thinks Im a blonde in another life !!!
Anyhow we check out the Tegal Sari first up. Web addy remove dots wwwdottegal-saridotcom
Amazing you read on the forum about this place get a picture in your mind - but being there is so much better. No wonder everyone raves about the place. I -B - Lined for the new Super Deluxe Rooms. If your into Country style and rooms this is the place for you.
If you want sophisticated 5*** Butler service with Mosart & Caviar this is not for you.
Anyhow Im at the top of one of these rooms and I can see what I think is the Monkey forest and the field of Rice and some ducks and a nice breeze and the peace and the fresh OPEN air and yep this is great. !!! The top floor has wooden base floors the lower level concrete. The décor is quite nice with a corner co4ch setting. Its like what you see on the web site. It's a bit of a walk from these rooms to the rest of the complex - like the Restaurant and pool. I picked up an activity brochure which included Tegal Sari cooking classes which are available Tuesdays and Fridays for 4 hours all inc - asking price 200,000 Rp. I do not know if this is a new activity - perhaps those that have stayed here before can answer that one. It seems I forgot to ask the actual "walk in rates" as well - so sorry !!
But I recall him saying a price of 400.000 Rp but from 1 April this would now go to 450,000 Rp as their rack rate.
The Tjampuhan was a completely different hotel given its location on the river. More of a River Rainforest outlook. I looked at a Raja Room which was Air Con - it was a walk to the left when facing the entry of hotel and then a meander down some zig zag path in close proximity to the natural Pool. This maybe what Rex calls a River View room - not sure. The name on the room door has since escaped me. But from the balcony you have the view and wonderful sound of the rapid water below - how good is that ???!!!
We then head to the spa area - well this was a meander down and on the way we see the Main Pool - not huge but well patroned. The spa is everything you could imagine. Its like being in an open limestone cave with the sound of a river - how beautiful - I have never seen anything like it before. Who would care what the quality of the massages were like you could just lay here and slip into bliss by the surrounds.
Anyhow what a trek it was to get back up to the lobby. Smoker me had two brief pit stops and they gladly gave my sister and I a cool refresh towel each - which I thought was nice.
The rack rate for an air con Raja room here was $115 US on their brochure..
Well back in Kuta I just had to re visit the Adhi Dharma Hotel. Just off JL Benasari and a great location for those that like it central. Most of the JL Legian restaurants are a short walk and Benasari has heaps of cheap places to eat and drink - where a small bintang is 7000Rp at all times - I noted that was the price at the hotel as well. Poppies II is only a short stroll.
We were given a grand tour of all the accom and they were very proud to show us the rooms now have all new furniture in them. My sister and son were sold on this hotel. The rooms asre so much more spacious - particularly for 3 of us seeking three beds and the deluxe room no 204 that we looked at was a winner for them. Its very large - and Im wondering if its not bigger than the Melasti suite. Yet at a lower price.
The Adhi has re opened their spa with now two rooms. Ani has returned to the hotel to run this along with Sari. They offer a lot more services. The prices have jumped a little - like everywhere I guess. 1 hour services @ 125,000 Rp less 25 % discount offered to guests and former guests - or anyone who wants to bargain a bit in my view.
I didn't get to see the new spa layout as there were clients in there - maybe next time.
The one thing is the staff here at the hotel are probably the best Ive come across. Many staff numbers have reduced due to the low downturn and of course are being shared with the cottages that sit on JL Legian.
I forgot to get their new rates - too busy chatting to the staff hahaha but their superior is around $35 US per night. ( I see Asia Rooms have them for $49 AUS ). $47 US for deluxe and $55-60 US for the large family rooms ( max 4 persons ) Hotel email is sales@adhidharmahotel.com & the web site is remove dots - wwwdotadhidharmahoteldotcom
Anyhow hope this info has been of help.
