Thanks all for your responses and support. I agree that if you are lucky enough to have your booking confirmed, then they appear to do their job, but any complications causes them to go into defense mode.
Placed my disputed transaction and notified them that this is what I had done.
I seem to have now been recredited the original debit plus extra. Will now await for them to find their mistake:)
