Must say you've been very diplomatic in your approach and I may've detected a hint of sarcasm at who it was directed at..wink...
I would agree with some of your comments, a little truth in some others, even if criticism is directed at me, (and I accept yours were just general comments and opinions) i've no problem with them if they're done intelligently,....you've put forward an intelligent point of view..
As far as how a marketing consultant works and the approach they use, while what you said does apply in some cases it depends on what you're marketing and who it's directed at,...marketing home appliances is deferent from marketing overseas holiday destination, different cultures, a third world country, accommodation and sightseeing.
If marketing a brand of TV you must target those that are or maybe in the market for a TV trying to convince them that brand best.......If marketing a store that sells all brands on TV's your trying to get potential buyers in your store..
Marketing sometimes uses tact a diplomacy, but i'm not marketing anything on this forum,...the vast majority of members are marketing Bali, and refuse to accept any criticism or negatives of Bali. the head up the proverbial where the sun don't sine syndrome..........(insert the shake of the head a smile and wink wink)
i'm simply pointing out some negatives,I learnt while living working and researching in Bali,...for the purpose of marketing, and they can't accept them.
If you're in the position of marketing Bali as pointed out above and Also a management consultant for various Bali accommodation,... you must make a choice between marketing the destination honestly or pointing out only the positives,....
The same with the accommodation "honestly" a potential tourist making an uninformed decision on destination or accommodation,.. while it may put people on planes and in hotels,..guests staying at a hotel one week complaining about the hotel and Bad experiences in Bali is the last thing the hotel needs or Bali needs in general...
You've only got to see some complaints about accommodation on this forum to see that some marketing has been let say misleading....
Your: But check various poster's responses to their perception of being ignored or disagreed with and you will understand something of that person's nature.
If a post's directed at me, for whatever reason asking a question or a rebuttal to a statement I made,.. I feel it's polite to answer,.....now I expect the same curtesy from others,...... in the cases of in my opinion being falsely accused, lying or misleading members,... these form of allegations need to be substantiated...not ignored!

Again I commend you for what I consider a intelligent contribution...and as I also agree with your comments

Many forums have the ability to add smiley faces the wink wink and other appropriate ways to convey and express the intent of the posters comments,.... i'm sure you will know just where they being in the above,... wink wink...
