and have some great photos but unforntunately it was before we updated to the digital camera so can't show you. We stayed in the bungalow type rooms right near the restaurant and pool and had an adjoining room with my dad and his friend. Each room had two showers - one under the main roof and one out in the open but both kind of outdoors. We found this to be a good idea as the rooms didn't get steamy and musty and it was also good for drying towels and a few small items of washing (we have since wised up and pay a laundry service, but if you want to wash it's good).
They do have family bungalow/villa type accomodation also down near the pool and near a large grassed area if you have kids who might want to kick a ball around or something.
We had friends stay in the tower rooms, they were nice and clean and looked very comfortable but if the price is similar or you can afford the price difference the bungalow rooms closer to the pool are nicer we think.
There are two pools and both are very nice, did find a bit of a problem with people saving pool chairs from early in the morning and then not using them for most of the day on the bottom pool but that may not be a problem at the moment with the lack of tourists.
Your husband will definately have no problem staggering to and from S & S it is very convenient.
We love staying in that area, we love the shops, the markets and the restaurants which are all very close by. We stay at Rama Garden just up the road now because it is very comfortable and quite a bit cheaper(about $250 -$300 per adult over 10 days) but if we wanted to go less often and spend a bit more we would have no hesitation in staying at Mandira again and often recommend it to friends.
Hope you enjoy your trip, when do you leave?
