when you are looking up Rama Garden or asking for quotes from travel agents. Make sure you specify that you are talkng about Rama Garden Cottages on Jl Padma now Jl Yudistra. There is also a Rama Garden which I think is further down in Kuta or it may be Tuban.
The one in Legian is fantastic. It is set back off the road, the restaurant is on the street so you can see the passing traffic etc as you dine - the food is great too. We actually found the hotel because we ate at the restaurant not realising that it was even attached to a hotel at first. The resception is to the side of the restaurant and you have to pass through the reception area and down a short garden path to get to the rooms. There are 30 rooms all together and they are all set around the pool area with balconies/porches facing the pool, 15 down stairs and 15 up stairs.
Rooms are being upgraded but even the one yet to be done are very clean and of a good condition. We have stayed there a few times now and so have other family members. We love it. We took our kids for the first time in November and it was perfect for them. The pool was so close to the rooms you could sit on the porch and watch them (close to your own fridge) or order drinks and lunch to the pool and it was also close to the shops and restaurants so it wasn't too far for the kids to walk.
You are only a short stroll (few hundred meters) from the beach.
There is a 24 hr mini mart next door if you need it and a great massage/reflexology salon around the corner and next door to that, (you get a discount if you stay at Rama Garden and mention it).
The back wall to the Rama Garden comound is onto Garlic Lane (JL Sadewa) - where indonational Restaurant is if that helps you work out the location I have a web sit address if you wan tot email me.
