Amed must be getting green again by now. When i was there in the beginning of November it was dry and arid and everyone was praying for the rainy season to begin. How quickly things change once it does. It is not a slow transformation like from winter to spring..... but within a week or so the landscape is transformed from brown to green. Within a month everything is lush and verdant once again.
The fly problem happens for about a month around this time, so the locals told me. No one seems to know why. It is not as bad in all parts of Amed; and is definitely not a problem for the rest of the year.
Blue moon villa is a wonderful place to stay. With easy access to the best snorkling beach in the Amed area [Selang Beach]. Fabulous place with great staff and delicious food in the restaurant.
I love this part of Bali. It has a unique flavour to it. Locals are friendly but not pushy. No hawkers on the beaches.Stunning coastline and majestic mountains.
The best part of the Amed area begins at Lipah beach... this is the first sandy beach with good snorkling too.
Although unfortunately i noticed there has been severe erosion in front of Pondok Vienna and the trees have fallen and the beach directly in front of the restaurant is gone.
Selang beach is next beach but one to this. Also a safe and sandy beach.
Amed seems to change with tides and seasons. Sometimes the sand is golden and sometimes more black/volcanic.
I am looking forward to going back there before too long.
