Stayed in the 2 bedroom Villa at Anda Amed for Christmas. It is situated on the side of a hill across the road from the hill that runs down to a beach. There is a path (if you can call it that) that runs down the other side of the road to the beach which is a lil rough and you do need to be careful you don't slip and twist your ankle. The beach there is not much good for much as the best snorkelling is around 4km up the road. You can get one of the local fisherman to take you there or get transport (although it is not always easy to find). Anda Amed is not cheap .. being around 90USD a night for the 2 bedroom Villa. The restaurant is excellent, food great, staff friendly and helpful. It is owned by Kim who has spent a great deal of time in Australia. We also looked at a number of other places, Dancing Dragons is nice as well as the place opposite Anda Amed which backs on to the beach and has a dive centre out front on the road, its called Puri Wirata Resort and is excellent value for money. Not as new and upmarket as Anda Amed but still very nice and we would be happy to stay there in the future.
Only things we had a problem with at Anda Amed (and I have passed these comments on to Kim), were no free bottled water supplied .. lighting in bathroom was dim and so it was difficult to shave or do anything else in front of the mirror. We also noticed that flies were a problem in the kitchen (flies are a BIG problem in Amed). For more info pls feel free to email me.
