The race is always on when a big story breaks. When the bombings happened, all the commercial stations broke into programming to bring the news to the viewers. This forum had a post about the bombings at Jimbaran Bay minutes after it happened. I jumped on the phone and told a television station in Perth about it. The ABC don't have an after hours number and they didn't get to know about it till much later. The local stations in Perth organised for incoming feeds of the damage only an hour after the event for updates and had crews on the plane early next morning. I agree with you about the quality of news on the non commercial stations and they are my preference also but when a big story like Bali happens more people watch commercial TV news.
Yes,of course, ALL the stations pick and choose which story to run including the ABC and SBS. Do you think the Bali bombings were not worth reporting?
