Thanks to everyone - for all the fantastic information I have collected from the Forum. I'm 49yo female travelling on own (31 Jan - 6 Feb) & will be a first-time traveller to Bali, staying at Padma. Any other travellers of my 'vintage' interested maybe joining for an evening meal or travel to markets @ UBUD or NUSA DUA ? Have so much to jam in but wanna check I've got things covered. Would appreciate any feedback to see if I've got most things covered
I need to have $25.00 US for VOA at airport. Do I need Rupia for taxes?
I understand you use your Debit card to access $ rupia. Are the auto tellers easy to find ? eg is there one near Kuta shops ?
Phone: from what I read -BYO phone & get sim from Matahari Store.
Is any Indonesian phone Co better value than another ?
Would appreciate if someone could give me an idea how far (walk & taxi) Padma is from main drag & shops of KUTA ?
People tell me to immediately 1/2 the first price offered to me - is this correct ? Happy to bargain but Dont wanna to be unreasonable.
What do you suggest are essential purchases to take home from Bali beside a sarong and a suntan !
Any recommended places to eat ? Do you still suggest only cooked food to avoid Bali - belly ?
Is it OK for female to get around on own in evenings or do I need taxi ? I understand the Blue taxi's are best. Do they have meters ?
What is the going rate for taxi fm Legian to Jimbarian Bay ?
Do I use a taxi to NUSA DUA or do I need to join a tour ?
Anyone done the Bungy Jump - do you recommend?
Is diving OK in Feb or will rains ruin the visability ?
Wanna white water raft - any suggested companies or do I just book through hotel desk ?
Keen to have massage daily, any recommended places or people ?
Hope these questions and answers will help other first-time travellers to Bali and look forward to submitting report to the forum upon my return from 'beginner traveller' perspective !
PS only staying one week as I lost $800 when Air Paradise collapsed and had to trim my holiday - BUGGAR but confident I'll be back! ! !
