A friend filled in a form with their bank to reverse the credit card entry due to "non receival of services/goods" or something like that. If your bank allows you to do that, what that does is makes the travel agent a creditor of AP rather than you.
The travel agents probably don't have a fund, because the reality is they don't have your money. It goes directly to AP when your booking is confirmed, they only retain their commission, so AP is the one you have to chase. So when weighing up your options, you need to realise that the travel agent may come off second best and if it is one you use often, the relationship may be damaged. Good luck
