On the whole I feel very safe.

An amazing amount of people go out of their way to assure you that 'bali is safe' while you're here. The reality is that quite possibly nowhere is safe, anymore, at least for the forseable future. Colleen sent us a SMS telling of the race riots in Sydney. Now would you have expected that, & how safe would you feel there (particularly if you have the misfortune to look 'ethnic' as my hubby does!)? Personally I felt no worries about coming here, and the ONLY place I have any security worries about is the new Discovery Mall. It is so big, and has so much Xmas stuff up, that I can't help wondering if it isn't like the ultimate target to some lunatic. Personally I find the Xmas stuff here really really over the top, and a bit distasteful. After all, this isn't a christian country, is it?
