I automatically answered with the Bahasa Indonesian.I'm certainly no expert & no doubt often make a fool of myself but I'm pleased that when I am in Bali because people know I am trying to learn that I find there is always someone who will happily correct me & laugh with me NOT at me.Anyway thanks for the extra phrase.
I have managed to teach myself a fair bit of Bahasa Indonesian through books & by talking to locals but have given up on trying Balinese. As you said with the different levels it makes it a lot harder.I tried for a while but decided to stick to Bahasa Indonesian.
I think your last phrase may be useful in a shop if someone tried to subsitute the goods you bought as they put them in a bag.
Another funny one I like to use is " Hey Saya Tidak Bodoh" = I'm not stupid.
One phrase I can't remember the translation of is something like
" Gobloc Chee" a friend taught our son it years ago & he used to tease his Dad with it because he doesn't understand any of the language.I don't think it was too rude - just something like
" You're silly " but it may have been a Balinese phrase.
