Last year we went to watch the one in kuta ...which parades down legian st, im not so sure where it started but we got there around sunset i think ...you have to walk in there as they blocked all the streets and we sat on the pavement near bemo corner and watched from there. So i would say around 6 to 6.30 it started to happen as you can imagine it was quite busy and the locals were packed in there, so many children in the parade too which was wonderful and they had made a lot of the ogoh ogoh themselves. Just to see these magnificent ogoh ogoh was amazing they are massive and you see some locals running with bamboo poles to lift power lines so they can get thru i am sure you would enjoy it. Dont forget the camera.
The markets on the beach we went early as i was flying out that day i think we went there about 8.30am and some were open but others we still setting up and by the time we left it was hard to move on the beach i have never seen markets like it, everything you can buy in bali only 3 fold, And further down the beach they had the ogoh ogoh all sitting there for people to see and they were going to burn them later that day, where i took some great photos of them before i left. I hope this is of some help to you, its hard to explain i guess but if you love bali you will love this tradition. Liz
