I don't dismiss the spirit theories although am going to go off on another tangent here just in case.
Reason being, the exact words you used in your description of what your friend has been through, i have heard before and thought i would have my say as it has been bothering me. Here are some quotes from you that I am referring to:
"She awoke and could make out a dark form, a blackness in the room she shared with another friend. She screamed loudly waking her roomy and was filled with a sense of foreboding and terror."
"I know it means death"
Especially this quote: "This thing that visits her, overwhelming engulfs her with sorrow and she says it has no human form but is a blackness ........"
These exact words i have heard from a friend of mine who suffers from severe depression and bipolar disorder (that wasn't diagnosed until she was in her 30's).
I know you said it only happens in Bali since the bombings.
We all know too well that these tragedy's have stirred many a soul, both,sadly, the deceased and also the living.
Often sufferers of illnesses such as bipolar disorder have 'cycles' or 'triggers' that can 'set them off' .......am probably way off the mark here and hope your friends solution will be an easy one, but as I've heard those exact words, from my friend.....
btw. Bopgirl, I don't read many jbr's so haven't read any of yours before. Have to say it was very entertaining and intriguing.
Hope your friend finds an answer and solution to her traumatic experiences real quick and think you must be a very nice friend for trying to help her find them.
