On our first trip my wife found every one coveted her backpack and her watch. We wound up leaving most everything we brought with us behind. My worn running shoes were particularly appreciated, as the ones they get wear down so quickly. Since we started planning this trip she has been selecting goods at the thrift store where she volunteers with Bali in mind. We plan to have our own gear in one suitcase and fill to the limit of our baggage allowance the other three. We will distribute all that as we go and have plenty of room for accumulated gleanings.
As to relaxing, that's what I do best. I power walk for an hour and a half or so each morning, starting at false dawn. Then back to the room to clean up as my wife gets ready, we breakfast, then walk, gawk and talk for the morning. Back to the hotel for my nap. I spend the pm on the beach while she explores and shops. She has ridden the buses and makes friends easily. Then out for dinner. I think we spent maybe 3 days of our last 12 day trip making the rounds (Kintamani, Museum in Sanur, rice paddy views, etc). This time with three weeks in Bali we plan to do even less. I think your might enjoy the JBR from our other trip. Just search Connecticut Yankees in Ganisha's Court in early 2005. It is in three parts. We seem to have the same idea of travel.
More advise solicited. We have the first 5 days at the Bali Hai that came with our package and then 7 nights at the Tegal Sari in Ubud. We left the last 8 nights to open to see what seems right. Any suggestions? Thank you for your help. As on any search trough the internet (or anywhere else for that matter) there is a ton of information available. The hard part is sorting through it to see what makes sense and is applicable. You made the cut on both scores. Thanks again
