I just prepaid at the Tegal Sari for my reservations in Februry. The only credit card they accepted was American Express. They also added 2% for their expense. I called American Express, told them to expect one charge of xxx rupiah from Indonesia and permit no others due to fears of fraud. I researched Tegal Sari extensively on this and another forum site and decided (at least for myself) that they were trustworthy. When I return to Bali in February I'll call American Express again and tell them the dates I will be using the card and to allow charges. The 2% cost of using the card was much cheaper than the cost of a bank transfer and is safe. In fact I'll probably just bring my Visa card to Bali call and tell them the permissable dates for charges from Bali, and probably not even use the card except for emergencies. Cash is KING. How do you like that for careful?
