Yes,the sizing is different.
I am a size 12 and even I found it difficult to buy swimwear in that standard size.Clothing from many Boutique style stores tend to be on the smaller than average scale.In saying that its not impossible to find what you are after if you perservere.Market style clothes are available in small,medium,large & extra large.
I am a size 8 in footwear also and have never had any trouble getting shoes from the markets or stores in Bali.I think size 8 is a size 38/39 over there.My friend is a size 11 (eek) in ladies shoes and shop assistants would literally recoil in horror when she would ask.Hence she got the nickname 'Shrek' from us that trip.
