Spent last February in Bali and it was fabulous. You can't be more of an American type than me (aging hippie) and I was a little leery (not Tim). You see in the paper how everybody hates Americans and all that Freedom fries nonsense because of the odious French. We stayed in a hotel with 137 units and for most of our trip we were the only Americans there. Not many Aussies either. Mainly Japanese, Taiwanese, Germans French and Indonesians from Java. Every one was great. They all realize the difference between an American citizen and the American government. The Balinese would hear we were from California and laugh and go "ARNOLD"!! Be who you are. You have a better chance of being shot in your home town or getting run over by a drunk with a cell phone pasted to her head than you have of running into problems on your trip. Your gonna die someday and it ought to be when you've got a big smile. Not huddled in your basement or With tubes up your nose. Go for it and have a good time. Don't let let the bad guts get you down, be they foreign or domestic. Wow, I really enjoyed writing that.
