I am aware that, for me at least, I have a fear of being killed or maimed in a terrorist attack that does not go away when I remind myself of the statistical unlikelihood (compared with having a car accident, for example). It's irrational - a bit like my fear of huntsman spiders.
At the same time I notice that other people are more trusting and fatalistic - 'if my time has come then there's nothing I can do about that'. It's a good idea to suggest examining our own role in supporting or over-riding the fear factor brought on by random bombs.
