We're on a travel forum. Volumes have been written on this topic. We don't have the space or the time to do a full evaluation of all the intricacies involved.
On the other hand, simplifying the issues into a "look what the US has done" message may well serve the purposes of recruiters.
Simplifying the issues in Iraq to "Saddam is evil" worked for our side. People still think he had something to do with 9/11. That he was working with Osama. That some of the terrorists on the planes were from Iraq. Many people actually believe that WMD's were found in Iraq. Despite the fact that there have been more civilian deaths in Iraq since saddam was captured, many people are still blaming him for these deaths. That's how simple we've made things on our side.
