My friend waited for me outside the shoe warehouse near Poco Loco as it was too hot inside. There was a woman with a child begging out the front. He gave her money and then watched as she received money from quite a few other people and this only in the space of 20 mins or so.It was quite a revelation and we can only imagine how much she made as opposed to actually working for a living.
I was once told that it was ruining the fabric of their society by encouraging the beggars and I also have instead given food to women with children. When you see how hard some pf those poor people work, like those guys who pedal the bikes laden with toys, you really think twice about giving rupiah out to all.
