I've been to many countries in the past including places like the Greek Islands and I didn't think it would get much better than that but then we found Bali and do you know what? For me it eclipsed the Greek Islands. So while I haven't ruled out travelling elsewhere again, at the moment I'm stuck in this Bali loop (Obsession?) but happily stuck.
I know what you mean about being in dangerous places. Years ago I landed in Sri Lanka just as that batch of civil unrest began. On the way from the airport there were army check points, machine guns included.
Later we went to U.K. and were visiting Birmingham (where I was born) and heading confidently to the Museum via the railway station we came upon a roadblock. When we asked what was going on a passer by told us "It's just another bomb scare" like it was the most usual thing in the world. Of course for them it was at that time.
I agreee with you, llve your life. You can take sensible precautions but beyond that It;s in the lap of whichever God you fancy!!!
