just have a look at the bottom of the disc. If it's a silver kind of colour it's a cd, if it's purple/dark blue it's a dvd. If it's another colour let me know and i'll tell you what it is. Apart from the that the most likely reason you can't load the pictures is because of the file format otherwise the cd drive might not be working. Let me know how you get on with it, i'm a computer helpdesk/tech support person and should be able to help.
