My friend and I travelling with our collective kids were in Pacung Indah when we heard about the bombings. We were having dinner with David when he got a call from Cracker in Aust telling him of the news. We were due to leave the next morning for a week at Melasti in Legian and after much deliberating decided to return home. However, getting home proved to be a difficult exercise. Our travel agent here in Adelaide (Golden Bali Travel) had given us some info sheets along with our tickets which included a 24hour ph number of their agent in Bali. We rang this number only to be informed that he had no record of us and that he couldn't help. I then rang the after hours Adelaide number of the owner of the travel agency only to be told that once the money has been paid and tickets issued it was out of his hands, and to ring Freestyle holidays, the name on our ticket wallets. After 20 minutes, and speaking to 2 different males neither of which had a great command of english, we were told that if we wanted to go home we would have to go to Air Paradise at the airport and organise it ourselves. No one wanted or tried to help.
Not impressed is an understatement. After much trying, we finally got thru to AP by mobile, who swapped our tickets for the first flight out (to Melbourne). We left Bali 12.30am Tuesday, and had to pay for a connecting flight home to Adelaide. Has anyone else had experiences like this? I would really like to hear.
We would all like to send a big thankyou to David and the wonderful staff at Pacung Indah for their caring and concern in looking after us so well. David took on the role of tour guide for us and also drove us to the airport on Monday night, and arranged for us to be met by a friend who expedited our processing through. Thank you!
