the Virgin card in to the old Optus prepaid it still recognized the Virgin sim as Optus. Virgin dont have their own network, they run off Optus. Try either a Telstra or Vodafone sim card.

My bali sim which is Proxl works in Australia. BTW, I dont know why as I didnt believe they did but i can send and receive sms messages.

If a Telstra or Vodafone sim card wont work then you should take the phone into an optus shop or call optus and ask if it can be unlocked.

Hope this helps...If the phone is unlocked then I would suggest it is just that the bali sim is not being recognized here in australia.
