its like nothing I have ever seen before. We were eating on the beach front at Legian and heard the explosions. A kid at the next table asked his mum if it was fireworks, but the bang was too loud and hollow sounding. Within half an hour news had spread along the beach front by a Balinese guy on his bike, with tears in his eyes. He would have known that Bali is probably finished as a tourist destination. The locals have spoken of things becoming a little closer to normal in recent times, but still without the amount of tourists that they had pre Oct 2002. This morning the streets are almost deserted, no time share sellers , no transport, hat, or T shirt. Made, who arrives with our coffee each morning with a huge smile, was today devestated and close to tears. he will lose his job and end up back in his village along with many many others in his situation. His hopes for the future have been dashed at the hands of a greater evil that have killed not only innocent people, but I believe Bali itself.
