I can certainly understand & respect your decision not to go.
But some food for thought.
Is Bali un safe or the fact that westerners are there makes it unsafe?
Q. Where have the bombings been in Bali in 02 & 05
A. Kuta & now Jimbaran
Q. Where is the highest concentration of tourist in Bali.
A. the above answer says it all.
In our own country would you go to?
The Melbourne Cup, The Grand final of football or rugby, The Commonwealth games, Sydney/Hobart Yatch race start or finish line, Shopping @ major shopping mall @ Christmas time or any other place that has a huge number of people at 1 place @ the same time. It will happen in Aus. we just don't know when or where. Just think of all the major events we have in this country that is a possible target.
Do we stop enjoying/living our lives & live in fear or do we just plan better? I refuse to be told by Terrorist where I should or should not go. My choice is to keep going to Bali but avoid going to the places that will attract the acts of terror. It is not Bali that is unsafe, it is the people that visit & don't think past the Kuta area that make it so. There is a whole magnificent Island to see & enjoy. Let's just change our destinatiions in Bali instead of staying away. As I said I respect your decision but sometimes it pays to think outside the square. Please enjoy your holiday whereever you feel safe. Best wishes.
