items comes at an additional cost either on your home insurance or on travel insurance.
My home insurance does cover items lost or stolen with in Australia [outside my home] but only to the value of $1250.
As with jewellery if you want the full value of the item insured you pay an additional fee which can be quite expensive.
So, my best advice is that you contact your home insurer again and find out how much the premium would be to include the laptop for loss, damage or theft to the full value regardless of where an incident. I think my premium is called extra-cover.
If you just want to take out domestic travel insurance contact a T.A. and they can find out what the premium would be for you to cover the laptop. cheers :-)
