Hi all. Well just as I said in the last sentence of this years JBR I have been plotting to get back to Bali again in 2006 and have just started making the bookings for my husband & I to return in May 2006 to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. (And if this seems a little early to be booking its cause us midwives always plan holidays 9mths in advance!)
I have a query re travel insurance. From what I can discover Mike Henry is the only NZ company still offering cover for travel to Bali and since the most recent bombings they now exclude cover for anything related to terrorism. After I spoke to them on the phone about it they suggedted I contact the NZ govt to see what would happen in the hopefully unlikely event of our being involved in anything but I havent yet had a reply to my email (of 5 days ago). Im assuming we would have to foot the bill ourselves? (Like I have a spare $60,000 for this !!!)
My question is .. does anyone know of anyone else offering travel insurance that does cover terrorism... (surely there must be someone even if it costs extra) and if not how do others feel about not having cover for this?
I have to admit Im feeling a bit peeved as over the years Ive spent a bit on travel insurance without ever making a claim. It seems ironic that I had no trouble getting travel insurance for when I lived in London years ago (eg IRA bombings) and it seems I will be covered for terrorism when I go to New York in July 06! As a healthy 34yr old woman it kinda bugs me that they will cover me for bungy jumping and white water rafting in Bali (which you will NEVER see me do!) but wont cover me for a possible terrorist attack?
