We recently returned from a two year stint in a developing country. we know that many illnesses were not reported to the w.h.o as any reports have an impact on tourist numbers. in the case we are aware of many expats were struck with dengue fever, and although this is a reportable illness it was not reported. not saying that this happening with bird flu, but i guess you can't be too sure.
