I may be wrong about this but it was the case that Bank Commonwealth, an Indonesian joint venture with CBA, which has 3 or 4 branches in Jakarta and probably also in Denpasar is definitely not CBA. However, this bank, with the same logo etc as CBA is a seperate bank. This means that you can't access a AUD account from CBA in Australia in Indonesia unless you have devices on the card like sirrus/maestro etc or VISA etc. It was the case (not sure now) that you would be charged (AUD5?) each time you took Rupiah out of a Bank Commonwealth ATM in Indonesia from your CBA account. I used to have a Bank Commonwealth AUD account but all their AUD accounts are stand alone from CBA and since 2001 you can only open a bank account in Indonesia as a non citizen if you have a KITAS. Up until recently CBA's closest relationship with any bank in Indonesia was Bank Indonesia Internasional (BII) not Bank Commonwealth. That fact may have now changed. Sorry to bring bad news, but I think what I state here is still the case.
