Absolutely on the ball with ALL your points. The Aussie Dollar has really strengthened vis-a-vis the US Dollar in the recent past.
And, yes, one pays per room rather than per person. Also, you are right, one has a lot more choice of hotels, on-line.
What I do is that I check ALL on-line deals first. Then with the travel agents. Invariably, the on-line deals are better.
