Have to agree with some of what you say about Jayakarta. We have stayed there maybe 5 times over the years and each time we arrived, I left the family waiting in reception while I was taken to the room to check it out. Every time, they tried to put us in a crap room first(this is before we knew specific room numbers to ask for). Each time I very nicely said something like "oh no, this can't possibly be our room, we would like one where the air con works or the toilet doesn't leak or the generator is not outside the balcony" or whatever the problem was. Once I looked at five apartments before they miraculously came up with one that was ok (just.) Once we knew the good building to be in, we would specifically ask for ground floor (at the Jayakarta they call it first floor), room no 3... or thereabouts. You still have to put up with getting single beds etc because they can never get it right first go. Then you have the pool lounge situation where I was actually attacked by a German guy for sitting on a lounge that he said was his (along with the other ten he had reserved for his imaginery friends). Needless to say, would never stay there again. After that we discoverd Kumala Pantai which was wonderful and the Beach Apartments where we would love to stay forever!
