Please note that I have not personally been to any of these places yet, but found this info on the forum, and will be checking these places out for myself in October:

Divine Diva

Magi Shop
Jl. Pantai Kuta 51 - that have a good range of larger size clothes. (If you know where Starbucks and the Hard Rock Megastore are, then it is right across the road).

Bathers:
Climax Swimwear - Legian St
Got bathers made at climax -$55
(not me - someone else who originally posted this info).
Situated in the first square you come to on the right of Legian St after Melasti St, heading towards Kuta. (approx 1/2 way between poppies 2 & Melasti St

There are a couple of swimwear shops in Poppies 2 near the Barong Hotel - someone mentioned they might make to measure too.

The suggestion made by someone else regarding travelling light and using a laundry is a great idea too.

Tell your friend to relax and have a great trip.

Cheers
