Hiring a car is easy. You are supposed to have an international licence and they will still hire you a car even if you don't have one, but watch out for the police. If you stop on a white line in the main busy drag near Galleria or any large roundabout the police will come out of their little box and get you and it will cost you a sum of money and that depends on how he feels that day.If you don't know the rules of Bali and the way the traffic works they will get you again and keep on getting you around the city area. This becomes very expensive and frustrating. The driver might be a little more work (negotiate up to 300,000 for a day but at least you know the money is helping his family not lining the pockets of the richer police) Your call in the end.
