Hi,
I've read all the posts on driver recommendations, but I haven't seen many comments on the alternative of renting a car and exploring Bali on one's own. While having a driver who knows his way around the island sounds great, our problem is that we are not yet sure what we will want to do once we are settled in Ubud. I am sure we will want to take a couple of day trips (e.g, to see Tirtagangga, Sideh, temples) and shopping trips (e.g., Celuk,Batubalan), but not sure of the exact days we will want to go. So I am a bit hesitant to reserve a driver now and lock us in. Yet, if we want to be sure we get a great driver, it seems we probably should reserve one well in advance. (We are going in October.)
If we rent a car, we will have total flexibility to do what we want when we want. But am I fooling myself about how easy/difficult it will be to tour around Bali on our own?
Thanks for any advice!
