Been back just over a week now from our first 3 week trip to Bali. Had a wonderful time, went with Hubby & 3 kids (10, 8, 4.5). Nearly everything I could write has already been written in many other JBR's I've been devouring for the last few months. Thought I'd be very concise with this, on reflection there are 2 things that bug me the most, that I wish we'd known sooner.
1. AQUA EAR - OK, I had heard about this on the forum, had even bought some in Aus before we left.....but our first day in Kuta was so beautiful, kids swam, had a ball and I thought of the Aqua Ear back in the hotel room, but told myself I was being over cautious and paranoid, they wouldn't need it. So we didn't use it - big mistake! 5 days later kids & hubby started on a week long saga of temperatures, lethargy - picked up with panadol, then crashed again. Finally went to Bali International Medical Centre (wonderful medical care, completely recommend), and sure enough, they had ear/upper respitory infections. The Dr told me once they were better to use the Aqua Ear (4 drops in each ear after swimming to help prevent against infections) - which we did. Of course who knows if it would have helped when we first arrived, but I wish I'd used it from Day 1!
2. MULTIPLE DVDs on 1 DISC
Didn't discover shops selling these until our last day, but what a bargain (and space saver). You can get multiple movies on 1 disc - from 2 up to 11 (11 is our record, with 11 Barney dvd's on 1). We bought quite a few, some favourites are;
* Miss Congeniality 1/2, Bridget Jones 1/2, Legally Blonde 1/2 - all 6 on 1 disc.
* Animals (5 in 1) Racing Stripes, Cats & Dogs, Garfield the Movie, Scooby Doo 1/2
* 6 x Dora Explorer on 1
* Arnie (6 in 1) - Terminator 1/2/3, True Lies, Eraser, Commando
* Disney Collection (5 in 1) - Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Tarzan 1/2
* Marvel collection (5 in 1) - Elektra, Daredevil, Underworld, Hellboy, Van Helsing
* Barbie (5 in 1) - Nutcracker, Rapunzel, Swan Lake, Princess & Pauper, Fairytopia
* Matrix - 3 in 1
* Superman - 4 in 1
* Batman (4 in 1) - Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin
* Will Smith (6 in 1) - Hitch, Men in Black 1/2, i Robot, Bad Boys 1/2
and many more - great gifts
We found 3 shops that sold these;
1 next to art markets at Kuta Sq (I think called Mega Disc)
2 in Poppies 2 - both down the bomb site end of Poppies 2, one on each side of the road
