I don't see the rationale.

If I carry cash and I am mugged or it is stolen then it is gone forever.

I am happy to pay a small fee for cashing travellers cheques but when you say you will not get as good a rate can you be more specific please. Is it 1% less, 5%, 10%? If it's a couple of percent then I will be happy for the security.

If I change cheques only once every four or five days then I will nto have to carry my passport with me. If I lose my passport, then really, who cares, it's just a document thaat can (relatively) easily be replaced. Will the Australian government abandon me on Bali? I think not. I have a friend who recently lost his passport in Thailand - he was issued with an emergency passport within 24 hours. The question I ask myself, is would I rather lose my passport or seven grand.....?

Cash can never be replaced.

If it was a two week holiday and I did not have many wedding related items to pay for then I may consider cash but as it is Travellers cheques are looking very favorable.

Thanks for your opinion though.

Charlz.
