I am sorry to hear about your hubby's illness - quite scary isnt it! Sounds like he had great Doctors though which is almost half the battle - to get detected!
Apparently it can sit dormant in your liver for up to 12 months before rearing its head!
I think from a google search the strain in Bali is the 'milder' one, not the fulciparum(??) one which seems really really nasty.
And yes, you can contract it in Bali, it is just unusual for it to happen. We only travelled to Telaga Waga for WWR, the rest of the time we were in the Kuta region.
Son seems OK at the moment - I read on the otherwebsite that the fevers come and go every 2 or 3 days - that is what is happening to our son at the moment - in between he is normal, kind off, but not eating much at all. Is also on heavy duty antibiotics supposedly for bronchitis.
Thanks for your offer of the email, if it turns out to not be good for us I will email you for some help - I think we will all need it!I will know Thursday I think.
