So you've wrapped your bags!

Or had them wrapped at the airport, and or have used cable ties, which you have somehow painted or coloured in some way, that you hope no one will be able to copy.

But what happens when your bag appears on the roundabout at the airport in Bali and there's no wrapping on it, or it appears to have been re-wrapped, and or the cable ties are missing or different from the ones you put on, now what do you do?

By the way, if you are going to use 'gladwrap' and do the wrapping yourself, you need to have some sort of sticker or sealing tape that will be broken and not be able to be reused, by someone re-wrapping your case after they have been into it!

Back to Bali, now was this done by Security / Customs at the departing airport, after you had checked them in, or by someone else at the departing, transit or arriving airport, for an illegal purpose?

I was concerned, so I rang and asked the man from 'Protectabag', and he indicated that if there is a need to check inside your bag, when departing from an Australian Airport, that Security / Customs should call you back and open your bag in your presence, the operative word is 'should'

So what happens in Bali, if you suspect tampering, he indicated that you need to contact airport security before you remove it from the roundabout and then open it in front of them preferably with a video camera recording all that happens.

I expect the same applies when you return, if you take your own 'gladwrap' or cable ties with you, but you will need access to something to 'cut' it off, nothing surer you will need to open it for Customs on the way in!

I hope this helps you decide what to do, it's just a pity that we've had to resort to this for some peace of mind when travelling!
