How do you cut the ties?

You cant carry scissors in your hand luggage, so how do you cut the ties when you arrive in Bali?
I carried scissors in a locked suitcase and had the wire ties on a 'bali bag' zip, so could get out the scissors then cut.
I bought some gorgeous pink ties from the 1st level at the Discovery Shopping Mall in the Dick Smith type electronics place.
