is one of my favourite places, but the snorkeling is not particularly great. I have never snorkeled in Queensland, but I have many times on the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia, at Exmouth and Coral Bay and nothing I have seen underwater in Bali even compares to this.
Having said that, I have had some great times on the extensive live coral reef just a few metres out from the beach right in front of the Vienna Beach Hotel in Lipah village [Amed] and also at the Blue Lagoon at Padang Bai, both places an easy and cheap car ride from Candi Dasa with good scenery on the way.
The easiest snorkeling in Candi Dasa to my knowledge is just out from a nice strip of white sand beach [unusual for Candi Dasa] next to Resor Prima which is about ten minutes walk from the Legends Cafe end of the main street.
