I take good clean $100 notes to exchange at the money changers and also withdraw from my cheque account using the ATM. Bear in mind that each withdrawal costs around $4-$5 per transaction so dont bother making regular withdrawals, better to take a million or so (rupiah or course) each time. Also attracts 1% conversion fee.
I have just received my NAB Visa statement from March 05 and see that each purchase in Bali attracted a fifty cent or so fee (actually works out to 1.5%). Now thats a first/newie. Westpac debit Visa doesnt attract a fee other than for cash.
