Actually had our locks broken last trip to Bali and told that it was just "wear and tear" (no drama tho)
We travel heaps (Aus domestic and Bali 3 x a year + NZ and UK connections) as we exhibit show dogs always use cable ties to secure the crates (our friends dog was shot dead in front of him on the runway as his "safe" varicrate fell off the conveyor belt and opened and his dog escaped) Can understand that one dog is not worth x 100's of lives but still traumatic for him as he watched the whole thing.

I think when we next go we will utilise the cable ties and leave the snips to open them in the "expandable" part of our suitcase with just a combination lock which we can open easily, but is in reality not much use to "smugglers" if you can't have access to the rest of the suitcase. Not really sure if this is of much help, but hope so.
