Always pays to be careful, a good tip is to NEVER place you bag over the shoulder nearest the road, guys on motorbikes have been known to ride past and take off with lifted shoulder bags. I always walk next to the shops (that way I don't miss anything either) so my husband walks next to the road and keep my bag inbetween the two of us. Always keep one hand on your bag and leave the bulk of your money and passport in the hotel safe. I find bumbags uncomfortable and got prickly heat once which is not fun in the tropics. I always take a shoulderbag now. Stay aware of your surrounding and then you can relax and enjoy your time in Bali.
